A school marching band covers Rage Against the Machine

Now this is pretty cool. None of the schools I went to did anything like this. They kind of mosh it up in there (kind of).

Cosplay: Assassin’s Creed Unity Phantom Blade (Prototype A) Designed by ImDeePain Reborn

Pretty interesting! Someone went far out of their way to make a working model that not only has a spring loaded blade (well, a fake wooden one at least) but also a crossbow that can actually fire! (as well as spin back to it’s “away” position). Last year I put something together for Halloween themed around Assassin’s Creed. After the holiday I got my hands on a wrist blade that works, but this one kind of makes it feel a little lacking in the fun department. Nice job!

Of course, if you aren’t as crafty when it comes to fabricating your own cosplay weapon, there are plenty of Assassin’s Creed wrist weapons available online (examples) that you can use for your costumes.

Kim André Arnesen’s MAGNIFICAT – A Christian Track For Audiophiles Looking For Something To Test Their Speakers With

Crank up your speakers and give this video a try. Once it’s done, now consider that this is just compressed YouTube audio, and that the main track they will be selling blows this away if your system can support. Assuming you are an audiophile if you are reading this…it probably can. I’ll try to remember to come back and add a link to their Blu-Ray/SACD and files when they become available.

Video from the recording of Kim André Arnesen’s MAGNIFICAT to be released by 2L on Pure Audio Blu-ray this October, featuring both Auro-3D and Dolby Atmos audio streams.

The Magnificat is the Virgin Mary’s song of praise to God after one of the Bible’s greatest wonders: the angel Gabriel visiting her with the message that she is to be the mother of God’s son. In his setting Kim André Arnesen expresses the feelings Mary must have felt: wonder, devotion, gratitude, joy, humility, hope and compassion. God’s selection of an unknown woman living in poverty to be the mother of His son is a bottom-up view of the world if ever there was one – and Arnesen sees the Magnificat as offering support and hope for all people struggling against adversity or in need of strength.

Musica Celestis portrays the ceaseless praising of God by angels in heaven. Aaron Jay Kernis builds his work around a fairly simple melody which

Epic Slip N Slide at Ohio Dreams in Ohio – Why Are These Things So Far Away From Me!!

Once again, wow. From Zorb balls to the tallest slide (although due to tall the issues with its safety, I wouldn’t try it anytime soon) to this slide…why is everything NOT here (yet)??? It seems like if you want to have fun…you have to leave the West Coast to pull it off >_<

Science: Massive 2D Rubens Tube Of Over 2500 Holes Driven By Sound and Music

From the site:

Rubens’ Tube is an awesome demo and here we take it to the next level with a two-dimensional ‘Pyro Board’. This shows unique standing wave patters of sound in the box.

The pressure variations due to the sound waves affect the flow rate of flammable gas from the holes in the Pyro Board and therefore affect the height and colour of flames. This is interesting for visualizing standing wave patterns and simply awesome to watch when put to music. Thank you to Sune Nielsen and everyone at Aarhus for sharing this demonstration with me! And thanks for having me at your conference.
