Ghost in the Shell hits the big screen next with a new installment

GhostInTheShell

I actually missed this one. It will be shown next month (explained below) here in the US but it actually came out in Japan earlier this summer (June)–and it never crossed my eyes. GitS (Ghost in the Shell) is a fun collection of both series and movies, generally with a deep storyline as well as a fun score (OST/soundtrack). In my opinion, the original movie is in my top 5 list of classic Japanese animation (anime) films that no anime fan should ever miss.

It’s hard to believe a new one came out without my knowing of it. My anime fan-ness seems to have dwindled over the later years. Last year I sat watching an episode of the highly rated Attack on Titan, and I could barely tell you what happened. Then again, I was distracted by someone I had a deep interest in at the time who was sitting next to me, so I guess it doesn’t count. What does count, is I never went back to watch it again. I guess that’s life. As time goes by, you find less time to do such things as more important tasks begin to take priority.

The new movie will be coming to US theaters in November for a limited showing on select screens (November 10th, 11th and 16th). I haven’t been able to find the list of theaters just yet, so I may have to wait until I can watch it in mine.

The Japanese release of the DVD will be coming out…tomorrow. So if you speak Japanese fluently (or belong to a fansub group…just saying), you can own the movie before it hits US theaters. No pre-order links that I could find though (or any listings for that matter). So hopefully they stick to the publicised date of sale.
